The Career Hub project aims to introduce selected in-demand, shortage occupations to primary and secondary school students and to stimulate interest in diverse career paths. Within the framework of the project, a web portal was established with various contents tailored to different age groups of young users. A key emphasis of the project is the use of modern technologies to present professions in a more experiential and engaging way, providing young people with a better insight into the working environments and duties of specific occupations.
At the Multimedia Lab, we prepared eight interactive 360° virtual tours representing selected shortage occupations, including multimedia engineer, crane operator, farmer, youth worker, hydrologist and meteorologist, veterinarian, mechatronics technician, and 3D printing specialist. We captured scenes from real working environments across various locations using a 360° camera and integrated them with additional multimedia elements, such as standard videos, photographs, and text explanations. This layout allows users to independently explore the spaces and observe work processes, creating a more immersive and spatial experience of each profession. As part of the project, we also participated in overhauling the user interface and user experience of the karierniplac.si website, which serves as the central hub for accessing the developed content.
