The Signpost with C-ITS Functionalities project was focused on overhauling the digital services used for notifying drivers about road conditions in Slovenia. Within the scope of the project, services connected to the Promet.si portal and the Promet+ mobile application were upgraded, both of which provide users with access to traffic info, travel times, traffic events, road cameras, and other data collected by the Traffic Information Center for National Roads. The objective of the project was to improve the user experience and prepare the digital services for the integration of new functionalities related to Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS).

At the Multimedia Lab, we designed a comprehensive overhaul of the graphic identity for both the Promet.si portal and the Promet+ mobile application. Based on an analysis of existing solutions and user needs, we redesigned the information architecture, prepared the user experience framework, and designed the visual layout of the user interfaces. During this process, we also developed design solutions for new functionalities that were not yet available in previous versions of the service. Special emphasis was placed on a clear and quickly understandable presentation of traffic information, as the content must be structured so that users can utilize it safely and effectively even while driving. Furthermore, we tested the redesigned application in our laboratory using a driving simulator equipped with eye-tracking technology, which provided us with a better understanding of how drivers perceive and utilize traffic information in real-world driving situations.
