The Traffic Management Integration in the National Traffic Management Centre project focused on the further development of services and data solutions used by the National Traffic Management Centre (NCUP). The center acquires, analyzes, and processes data regarding the condition of state roads and traffic flows, utilizing this information for traffic control, public informing, and the development of intelligent transport systems (ITS) services. A significant part of the project involved establishing the National Access Point for traffic data (NAP) and its subsequent upgrade. The portal provides access to traffic, travel, and alternative fuels infrastructure data, with the goal of facilitating data exchange and reuse in the field of transport and mobility.

At the Multimedia Lab, we participated in the analysis of client needs and the conceptual design of the NAP portal, placing a special emphasis on a clear and understandable presentation of data aggregated from various sources. Since the portal connects numerous datasets, a robust information architecture was vital to ensure users quickly understand what data the portal offers and how they can use it. Based on this, we designed the user interface and prepared the graphic and content structure of the portal, enabling straightforward navigation and clear presentation of individual datasets. As part of the solution, we also prepared an animated schematic that layout the portal’s operations and traffic data flow in a simplified manner, along with a dynamic map displaying EV charging stations and parking lots in Slovenia.
