Redesign of the PISO Portal and the PISO20 Conference

The PISO web portal – Municipal Spatial Information System (Prostorski informacijski sistem občin) represents the most widespread municipal geographic information system (GIS) in Slovenia, utilized by more than 150 municipalities. The system integrates numerous municipal and national spatial data sets, including spatial plans, data on public economic infrastructure, the land registry, the building registry, and other publicly accessible spatial records. The data is regularly updated from various national and municipal sources and is accessible via a web viewer to both municipal employees and the general public.

Within the framework of this project, the Multimedia Lab prepared a comprehensive visual redesign of the PISO portal. We began by analyzing the existing website and user experience, and subsequently designed a new information architecture that enables a clearer organization of content and faster access to key system functionalities. On this foundation, we designed a new user interface and planned the portal’s user experience, placing a special emphasis on clear navigation, a modern graphic identity, and responsiveness across various devices. A specific part of the project also involved the preparation of a series of 19 graphically harmonized flyers, each clearly presenting one of the core services the portal offers to its users.

Shortly after the redesign, the PISO portal celebrated its 20th anniversary. To mark this occasion, we prepared a new anniversary visual identity, PISO20, which included a logo, posters, banners, and various promotional materials to showcase PISO and its services.
