At the Multimedia Lab, we cooperate with the University Medical Centre Ljubljana and professional partners in the field of cardiology to record and broadcast cardiology and cardiac surgery procedures for the purposes of professional education, conference activities, and knowledge transfer within the medical environment. The collaboration includes recording procedures for treating cardiac arrhythmia using ablation, as well as broadcasting open-heart surgeries from operating theaters to lecture halls and other professional communication channels. This setup allows students, doctors, and other participants of professional meetings to follow the procedures live and, in specific cases, engage directly in professional exchanges with the surgical teams.

As part of this collaboration, together with Multimedia students, we perform recording using a “live-to-tape” approach, where video editing takes place continuously in real time. During execution, we utilize remote-controlled cameras, multiple microphones, and digital capture from various specialized medical devices, such as 3D heart mapping systems, ultrasound, electrocardiograms, endoscopic cameras, and other systems. This approach enables high-quality content preparation for professional meetings and the education of future generations of cardiologists and other specialists.
